Cannes, France 16th February, 2000 - INFOGRAMES announces today at Milia in Cannes, the creation of Infogrames.com. This 100% owned subsidiary will gather all the Infogrames' assets in on line entertainment, cell phone, Interactive TV, Internet and broadband networks.
Together with the exploitation of those assets on a worldwide scale, the generation of strategic partnerships will be the main development paths of Infogrames.com.
This new subsidiary of Infogrames, will optimize the presence of the group in the on line market through the concentration of expertise and synergies.
The new structure will regroup all the existing assets, investments, franchises and designs owned by Infogrames together with the technical knowledge: WAP, ADSL, OpenTV, Broadband... under a unique international umbrella.
Infogrames will leverage its network of 20 international subsidiaries, its experience in M&A and the creation of new partnerships, together with its technologies Think Tank and its development capacity to further the group's presence in the online market. The initial investment in this sector is 200 million euros (200 million dollars). This activity is planned to represent 20% of the group's sales in the 2002.
Infogrames.com's strategy will be a mix of internal development and external consolidation in order to rapidly become a major player in the online gaming industry. The first example is the investment in the Zone.Jeux.Com gaming site where the players find information, online games and gaming rooms. The investment will represent a 50% ownership of Zone.Jeux.Com by Infogrames.
Though the combination of Zonejeux.com's current online gaming activity together with Infogrames' expertise in international development, Zonejeux.Com's aim is to become one of the key players in the games community on the net.
